Ripped off in Rome

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I had a long delay and missed a flight in Rome FUMICINO. My sim wasn't working so I found a payphone that took credit cards. I wasn't happy about he issue already and thought, "this is going to cost me!" The signs on it said 1.00 Euro per minute and I had to call the airline for rebooking of the next flight. I figured I'd be on the phone 15-20 minutes. I was standing next to another woman, stranded after the same late flight who was also calling the airline, but my call was cut short, disconnected after maybe 2 minutes. (Visa probably knew this was a scam) Immediately I got an email stating I was just charged 70 EUROS!!! I couldn't have been on the phone for more than 5 minutes and I am currently disputing this charge with my card company. What an evil scam

Similar experience to recent complainant. Held up in traffic jam on M5 on 8th April 2017 (3 hrs). Used call box at service station at J 30. Cash (60p) not accepted nor debit card. Credit card accepted but no connection made. Now discover I have been charged £6 for call not made. Not a happy bunny! Why do I have to enter 100 words? Haven't I made myself clear? I am only making this review in the hope that something may be done to prevent this sort of rip off continuing and affecting others. Scam in public telephone

BBG Communications - Scam in public telephone
Hi there, last Sunday, the 18th of December, between 7 and 7:15pm, I was driving home on the M3 Motorway in Hampshire, South UK, when I had to stop to call my wife to tell her that I did not know what time I was getting home as there was an accident on the motorway and I was stuck in traffic, when I realized my mobile phone was dead so i stopped at the nearest service are in Rownhams, to use a public phone, where there was stated the minimum cost of £0.60 pence, however the phone did not accept the coins and asked for the credit card, which was fine afterwards. Today I checked my bank statement and found out that for a simple phone call of just few seconds, I was charged £6.00, which is 10 times more than what is stated on the phone booth if the phone had accepted the coins. To me this is a huge scam and I am very disappointed with it.

This is a deposit, it refunds after a few days. This is normal when you make calls by card.

I was charged £6 each for 1 call that rang a couple of times and didn't even connect and the other call that i was on for a minute . These were done via a BT pay phone using my debit card. A complete rip off. Each call would have only cost me 60p each if i had used cash. The biggest bunch of scammers. Do not use.

I attempted to make a phone call home from Grand Oasis Cancun resort and use my credit card the first and didn't get through, so I attempted a second time and listened for rates. After I heard the rates and was asked if I still wanted to go through with the call, I declined and hung up. I just looked at my credit card statement and was charged $45 twice. I am highly upset.

Charged multiple times for one call

Updated by user Jun 16, 2015

The extra charges were refunded as the bank released the pending transactions. The call charges though still stands to be pretty high at 90 euros for 10 minutes!

Updated by user May 14, 2015

I would like to update that I just received the bank statements and I have lost close to 450 euros on three calls to India.

That was the money I had to spend for two months in Germany.

Original review May 14, 2015
I arrived at Frankfurt airport on May 1 and my phone, though International roaming activated, didn't work. Since my parent would be worried, I had to use the Pay phone at the Frankfurt Airport and then at the Kiel Hbf. I made only 3 international calls to India in total while I have been charged 8 times in all, 30 euros each time. Other calls within Germany didn't go through at all, for which I have been charged as well I guess. After that, around 1 am on Sunday(May 3), I have been charged 44 euros, twice! I have only that much to survive in Germany and it's all gone!

Ripped Off in Ireland

An emergency at home required that I get in touch with my wife in San Francisco and my cellphone didn't work. Used a phone booth that looked like a normal Eire telephone company booth in Cork. The information posted in the booth looked official so I swiped my credit card and connected with our answering machine, leaving a short message regarding when I should call back. Got that email later, called back using the same booth and service. Spoke to my wife for about 5 minutes and suddenly the call disconnected. Decided to not call back, and moments later got a transaction notification from my card company indicating two $25 charges by BBG Luxembourg. Then, the next morning, another email from my card indicating a 95 cent charge and another for $108. Immediately notified my credit union that the card had been compromised. They cancelled it and sent me a new one...and have removed the charges from by bill. I was lucky to have set up the auto-notifications...otherwise I'd have been slammed for much more.

In Costa Rica I tried to call my airline company on Skype, found out their number is not working on Skype. So I went to a pay phone, used my credit card and made a call for 3 to 4 minutes. Just now I found out they charged me 60 dollars for that. And there is a reservation for 36 dollars on there as well!? BBG is a scam! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

THE BIG BBG CHEAT

I was in Frankfurt airport a few days ago and I had a problem with my mobile, so I tried to call a mobile number in Finland using my credit cart at the airport phone. Just the line opened - at the same time = my card charged with 34,00 euros !!!!!! And 2 days later, when I was sleeping !!!!! my card was charged 0,95 euros from the same company BBG LUXEMBURG. So, I read to internet about this company and I canselled my credit card because I did not feel safe, as I did not konw if they would charge me more money - and special during my sleeping time !!!!! - . And I wonder, how can this company exist ? Why the airports still have contact with the company ? I am sure that they know about the big cheat behind BBG. Airports are accomplices to this game.
