My husband is currently out to sea with the U.S. Coast Guard. While in port in the Cayman Islands he called home using his credit card. We had a conversation lasting less than 3 minutes. We were immediately billed $10, two days later we were also billed for $86 dollars. I have yet to speak to someone from their company but I intend to get to the bottom of this. A serviceman or anyone should not be treated this way. BBG should post their company name and rates on their telephones!A warning to all: BBG is a rip off!!

| 1. Written by sunshine, on 30-12-2009 06:24 i suggest that people stop complaining and think before they call that way they should always think of asking charges first , if you look world wode no main telephone operator for any country gives exact rate details next to their phones so the sensible thing to do is ask an operator call rates before making call a reall y simple thing to do fro any one!!! |
| 2. Written by Areia, on 22-10-2008 12:30 I was charged nearly $100 for two calls from Costa Rica totaling no more than 5 minutes. They were charged to a debit card, so I disputed the charges with my bank. I just got a letter from the bank confirming they have accepted my claim and the temporary refunds are now final. It took the full three months, so I'm assuming BBG just didn't respond to the dispute, but I got my money back. I would advise all of you who've been had by them to dispute these charges with your bank or credit card company. If enough people do this the company will get flooded and hopefully either fold or change their business model. |
| 3. Written by Very pissed!, on 22-10-2008 01:17 I too was charged $144.71 for three phone calls, two of which did not go through all the way, from Indonesia to the U.S. I'm open to suggestions on how to get my money back. |
| 4. Written by Wes Scribner, on 27-06-2008 20:56 I just got home from spain.I made 4 calls to my wife while on vacation.None of the calls were answered and went straight to voicemail cuz her phone was screwed up.I got a bill when i got home which resulted in 4 seperate charges of 36 bucks each plus a ten dollar service fee.$154.00 for leaving 2 voicemails over 4 calls each voicemail less than 15 seconds long.Total Scam. When i called to see what was going on they told me theres nothing they could do.I called neomi the manager and gave her a peice of my mind and i also called my credit card company and it is under investigation.Cant beleive i got billed 36 bucks for a call under 3 seconds long. |
| 5. Written by Sam, on 30-05-2008 16:47 I used a payphone outside of arrival gate at Amterdam's Schipol airport on May 14th to place a call using my credit card to a friend's Belgian mobile phone line. I spoke for 3 minutes, and once I returned to the US, I noticed that I was billed $24.95 for the 3 minute call! I phoned the company using the phone number provided by the billing detail section of the transaction from my credit card statement, and I spoke to a lady named Terry Ambriz, who was pleasant and advised me that there was a five minute minimum charge for such calls. I complained that this information was not posted anywhere near the phone, but she countered with the reply that I would have known this if I requested the rate information from the operator, which was available and was stated in fine print near the phone. She put me on hold for literally 5 seconds, and told me that the company had authorized her to provide me a $9.95 credit to my call, but in the future I should dial '0' from any hotel or payphone and request the rate information from the operator, and if I am unable to obtain the information, then to use another phone. So, I net paid $5/min for an unavoidable phone call from Schipol airport. Next time, i will use coins! ![]() |
| 6. Written by Lindsey, on 29-05-2008 20:12 I was in Mexico this past week (5/24-5/29). I saw there were charges on my account totaling 103.78. I had made 2 phone calls, one to my voice mail for 1 minute and one to my parents for 8 minutes and this was the result. They credited me back 46.70 but I am still sooooooo pissed off. BBG IS A SCAM AND A RIP OFF, BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| 7. Written by Lily, on 26-05-2008 07:24 I am on business trip in Goteborg Sweden, call China via a public phone on street(service suplier is BBG). Because of the bad communication quality, my parents coundn't hear me ,I cut off the phone after saying hello several times, I am sure within 2 minutes, my credit card was charged $41.91!!!!! a cheating compay---BBG!!!! |
8. Written by Jason L, on 09-05-2008 12:48 This company is a total scam. They don't post their rates, and the phones have AT&T signs printed on them. I got an $88 partial refund but they said it was my responsibility to have asked an operator for the rates. Extremely rude and poor customer service. |
9. Written by Melissa S., on 08-05-2008 14:36 I also felt I was ripped off by BBG. My husband had a business trip and landed in Germany for a layover. He called home for 22 minutes and we were charged $106.99. $10.00 connection fee and $4.40/minute. I contacted the BBG customer service and explained that we were not told rate info or connection fee charges. Brian Cervantes at BBG ( 800-576-2118 ) explained that we could have requested rate info from the operator before placing the call. Since we were unaware of the option to do so, he said "BBG has a one time courtesy policy" and is refunding me $42.79 for not knowing pricing. Bringing my call to $62.40, I am not sure the breakdown as they didn't tell me where the break came from. They do keep records in their system so don't plan to take advantage of this everytime, because it will not work. So I would have to say that I am not all that upset with the charges, just know that I will request price info first next time! There are always options for consumers. You just have to be willing to step out out of a comfort zone and ask! |
